Turning Website Traffic into ‘Leads’

Got a great comment today (actually it was from a while ago, but my blog comment settings flagged it – sorry, Vinny – so I didn’t get it until today). As it turns out my “Lead Generation Techniques” are not actually so; they are more of traffic and business –getting techniques. The distinction is minor, but important. You see, I don’t really spend any time differentiating because, for me, my traffic turns into leads automatically!

There is a simple way to make sure that your website visitors actually turn into leads. And it’s so important to tackle this right off the bat that I dedicated the first chapter of Online Selling Domination to just this topic. But I will spill the beans early so you can see what I mean.

But first you need to make a slight mind-shift in how you look at your “traffic” and “leads”. You want to do more than just generate traffic and get leads from your marketing; you want to get sales. And as such it helps to think of the visitors to your site as “guests” and the ones who volunteer to be on your mailing list as “clients”. That’s really what they are, aren’t they?

No one wants to be ‘bought and sold’ like a “lead”. What they really want is for you to create a relationship with them. And in order to do that you have to offer them value and earn their trust. It is really no different than creating a relationship offline.

So how do you do this online? Well, you begin by offering them something of value in order to get their attention. Once you have that they will gladly extend their hand by giving you their name and email address. And Presto! You’ve turned your “traffic” into a “lead”!

You can offer value to your guests in a number of ways….

Give them FREE information (just think of what your target audience wants, create it, and give it to them).
Provide them with promotional discounts for your products or services (everyone sees value in a discount)
Send them a “Newsletter” – this is really just another way to say ‘free information’ but it actually gives the impression of more value (and you can combine many other marketing strategies with this to make it worth your while)
Allow them to become a “VIP Buyer” – create a list that gives early notifications of new products, or special offers (the more competition in the their field the more they will appreciate finding out about “it” first)

So this begs the question “How do you put this all together?”

It’s really quite simple. I use a great little program called Aweber to handle this for me. It allows you to create a “webform” that collects all of your guests-turned-clients’ info and stores it in a database from which you can market to them very easily.

If you don’t already have system by which to do this get an Aweber account and let them handle turning all your website traffic into leads automatically!

How to Create Your Own SEO Blog - The last preview of Online Selling Domination

               "If you are ready to take advantage of all the benefits that a blog has to offer you will want to get your own hosting account and get a blog from Wordpress.org. This is the most widely used blogging platform and has the most features and options available for customization.

            To have a Wordpress.org blog you will need a hosting account. There are a number of options for this but I’d recommend Hostgator.com or Lunarpages.com. Once you have an account you will need to login to your C-panel (control panel - for your hosting account) and go to the 'Software' section and click on 'Fantastico Deluxe'. This program allows you to set up any number of different items, but you need only be concerned with the "Wordpress blog"…

            If you are using a landing page you will be installing this on the directory '/blog'(or anything else you choose to call it); otherwise install it on your main URL......Whether you use a landing page or not, you will need to also download the FileZilla FTP Client. It can be found at
http://fullserviceonlinemarketing.com/free-blog-resources/. This is the software that allows you to upload files to your hosting account……

            Open up Filezilla, click File, Site Manager; enter your “Host”, which is going to be ‘ftp.yourwebsite.com’ (if you have any issues contact your hosting provider and they will help you with this), keep the ‘Logon’ type as “normal”, and your User and Password will be the same as what you used for your hosting account, and then just hit “Connect”……

Download Plugins from http://fullserviceonlinemarketing.com/free-blog-resources/, unzip and save.

Open Filezilla, Connect, Go to Public_html, select the directory of your blog, select the wp-content folder, the plugins folder, and find the plugins on your computer (the left side), highlight and upload.

Login into your blog control panel. This will be located at www.yourdomainname.com/yourblogdirectoryname/wp-login. You will use the name and password that you selected when you installed your blog on your hosting account.

Go to Plugins, Installed, Activate all of the Plugins.

Now you can optimize your posting URL file extension and configure the plugin settings. The most important thing you need to do is to go to Settings, Permalink, under Common Settings, select Custom Structure, input: /%category%/%postname%/….."

That was a lot of information and I hope that you will put it to use. You will not learn these kinds of specific details for free anywhere else. Hopefully you do not fall into the category of this popular theory - about putting 'information' into 'action' (or lack thereof)...

'People, in general, take for granted "free". They hear "FREE" and although they are quick to take action to get the "free" offer, they are very slow to put it to any use for their own benefit. Instead, they have tricked themselves to believing that because they have not paid anything there is no real 'reason' or urgency to put it (knowledge) into action.'

And you know darn well that if you spend a $1,000 on something you will be ‘milking’ every last drop out of it until you get your money’s worth!

Please don’t make that mistake with this ‘free’ tip. Maybe I should have not given it to you for free….but whether you buy the Online Selling Domination system or not, don’t judge this information by it’s price tag.

To give you a brief idea of how this type of service works, you put a "sign-up form" on your blog (as many as you like with any type of information that you want to collect) and when a visitor/lead signs up all of their information is automatically sent to and stored in an online database.

There are numerous features that come with this service that allow you to automate your business, including sending bulk email, sorting your buyers/lead-list by specified criteria, and creating automatic follow up emails.
